Hot Docs

Hot Docs hired Dipal to conduct an employment equity review and to develop an action plan to hire, retain and promote a diverse workforce. Dipal approached the review using an appreciative inquiry lens, which identifies past and present strengths and opportunities to build on those strengths going forward.

  • Step 1)  Dipal conducted an organizational document review of strategic plans, human resource documents, including policies and procedures, job descriptions, onboarding and outreach.

  • Step 2) Dipal conducted a focus group with the senior management team to identify:

    • How jobs are currently being advertised, promising practices in recruiting for diversity and opportunities for improvement.

    • How candidates are selected and interviewed, promising practices in selecting and interviewing diverse candidates and opportunities for improvement.

  • Step 3) The document review and focus group culminated in a final report that included promising practices the organization can build on, current gaps, and practical recommendations to address the gaps. As part of the report, a toolkit was provided to Hot Docs that included a succession planning template and a diversity pipeline tracking tool. Hot Docs has incorporated the report recommendations into their human resource policies and procedures.

Hot Docs hired Dipal to conduct an employment equity systems review for our organization. She analyzed key organizational documents and met with the Senior Management Team to leverage current practices and suggest additional techniques to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce. Dipal provided practical recommendations and tools to help our organization, including the development of an external and internal diversity pipeline and succession plan. She was a pleasure to work with and her expertise was highly valuable.
